Editorial Policy

Readers should never have to guess whether a claim came from a patch note, a hands-on test, an opinion, or a paid relationship. We label the difference.

Accuracy and sourcing

We start with patch notes, developer announcements, support documents, store listings, and other first-hand records. Reporting from elsewhere can add context, but a major claim needs stronger support than “everyone is saying it.”

Sources are linked or identified when they materially support the article. Anonymous claims, unverified leaks, and community speculation are not presented as confirmed facts.

Testing and article labels

GameTreff does not describe research-only coverage as hands-on testing. Our content may use the following distinctions:

Guide: practical instructions based on identified sources and, where stated, direct testing.
Review: an evaluated product or game experience based on sufficient direct use. The testing context and important limitations should be disclosed.
First look or preview: an early or source-based assessment that is not a final review.
News: time-sensitive reporting based primarily on official announcements and documented developments.
Setup: installation, configuration, performance, or troubleshooting information whose tested and untested elements should be distinguishable.

If direct testing has not been completed, the article must not include a review score or make claims that require personal experience.

Reviews and recommendations

Reviews consider the aspects relevant to the game or product, which may include systems, progression, usability, performance, value, accessibility, and ongoing support. Scores are optional and should summarize the written assessment rather than replace it.

A review or recommendation must not be made more favorable because of advertising, affiliate compensation, free access, campaign participation, or a relationship with a publisher.

Updates and corrections

Live-service games and technical information change. Articles display publication and update dates where available. We correct material factual errors when they are identified and update guidance when reliable new information changes the answer.

Readers can report a possible error through our Contact page. A correction request should include the article URL, the disputed statement, and a reliable supporting source.

Authors and editorial identities

GameTreff uses editorial pen names for publishing consistency and privacy. The use of a pen name does not justify invented qualifications, employment histories, personal experiences, or test results. Each author profile explains its coverage area, and article-level disclosures take priority over general biographies.

Editorial tools and automation

Software tools may assist with research organization, transcription, drafting, formatting, data handling, or quality checks. Tool-generated output is not treated as a source. Claims must still be supported by reliable evidence, and content must be reviewed for accuracy, clarity, attribution, and compliance before publication.

Advertising and affiliate relationships

GameTreff may earn revenue from display advertising and eligible affiliate actions. Advertising and affiliate relationships do not grant control over our conclusions. Relevant commercial links or sponsored arrangements must be disclosed clearly to readers.

Editorial coverage does not guarantee that an offer is available in every country, on every platform, or at the time a reader visits. Affiliate buttons must not misrepresent eligibility, cost, rewards, or conversion requirements.

Conflicts, embargoes, and supplied materials

Material relationships or access that could reasonably affect a reader's interpretation should be disclosed. Embargoes may determine publication timing but must not determine editorial conclusions. Publisher-supplied screenshots, artwork, or campaign assets should be identified when their origin is relevant.

Independence and accountability

The byline may be a pen name, but the responsibility is ours. We do not knowingly plagiarize, invent quotes, hide sponsorships, or dress up an assumption as a fact. Questions about these standards can be sent to contact@gametreff.com.
